Amazed at how much I can pack for work August 25, 2010 Donald P Hazelwood Very roomy bag - well built and works perfect w/ my Topeak rack. My commute is so much better w/o having to wear a backpack to work.
Great Product, Topeak Trunk Bag DX August 4, 2010 T. Cruciani This Topeak Trunk Bag was exactly what I needed on my Bike. I use it all the time for picking up mail, a few groceries, some snacks for the beach ...
I also love that it easily slides off to carry important articles with you.
Get the DX model because it is bigger.
Picnic Perfect May 25, 2010 M. Polycandriotis (Naples, FL) I bought this bag to go along with the racks and Topeak baby seat. My wife or I ride with the baby on one bike, and this bag on the other bike. It's a perfect size for carrying food and drinks for a small picnic. Works great for the three of us!
The best I have owned April 27, 2010 Dog Lover (Minneapolis, MN, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bike a lot. I have probably owned 6-7 carrier bags. This is simply the best one yet. Other bags had individual features not contained in the Topeak MTX, but overall, this one is the winner. It is deceptively large. I am always amazed at how much stuff I can get into this bag. The two side pockets are rigid, but hold a lot of odds and ends. The main compartment has a Velcro divider, should you choose to use it. I divide mine about 20%/80%, with the 20% being in the front. I put small items and heavy stuff in the front 20%, with the 80% available for snacks, an extra shirt, maps, etc. There is a small internal pocket on the zip-top for a billfold, etc. There is also an external net-pocket and a tie-down cord on the top of the bag.
The only features where I would score one of my other bags higher are 1) one of my bags had a "secret" pocket for money, etc. that the Topeak does not offer, and 2) the zippered expansion area on the Topeak is not as large as on a couple of my other bags.
Lastly, if you get the matching Topeak seat-post rack, this bags just slides on and locks into place. It's a great system.
Great bag for commuting March 20, 2010 Greg A. Dukeman (Huntsville, AL USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After bike-commuting to work for the last 3 years with a backpack to carry my clothes and lunch, etc., I was tired of my back sweating and my spine being thrown out of alignment from the weight of the backpack. After a lot of research, I decided to get this bag and its companion Topeak explorer rack. I carry a lot of stuff with me on my commute so it was important to have a large bag - this is one of the largest out there. It's not as spacious as my old backpack but it is adequate to carry everything I need it to. I wish it had velcro to fasten the mesh pockets because my cell phone and keys tend to pop out - after my keys plopped out one day on to the asphalt, I've since stored them in the bag's main compartment for safekeeping. I haven't used the bag on a rainy day yet but it seems like it is fairly water-resistant. The zippers are a bit wimpy making me skeptical of this bag holding up as well as my backpack did - be gentle when opening and closing the zippered compartments. I love the way it slides on and off the rack in seconds and the shoulder strap makes it convenient for carrying off-bike. Overall this bag and companion Topeak rack are the best solution I've seen for regular bike-commuting.
