BIKE RACK REVIEW September 5, 2010 JOAN THIS PRODUCT WAS EXACTLY AS STATED. EASY TO USE. WE LOVE IT. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BIKE RACK TO OTHERS.
Swagman bike rack August 30, 2010 carolinabob This bike rack is ok, but it is a dual fitting ( fits 1 1/4 and 2 ") not just a 2". The piece between the rack and the hitch is 1 1/4" and is not straight. This is not as good as the straight 2" piece. Amazon should advise it fit either hitch not just 2"
Very convenient, very sturdy! August 29, 2010 Robert Schmidt (Honolulu, HI USA) We have a heavy duty Yakima hitch-mounted bike rack for carrying 4 bikes. I feel we need it for the weight of four bikes. However, it is a pain to install and use for just one or two bikes. If I could just get one of those bike racks like I see on the local buses...
Hey! Swagman read my mind: the XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack!
This bike rack is sturdy, even though I had to put it together myself. Once constructed, I store it hanging from a bike mount on the ceiling of the garage.. It's easy to take down, and installs on the 2-inch receiver with a wrench and the key pin in about 1 minute. I leave the wrench in the car, so I won't have to go looking for the right size.
One or two bikes are installed quickly, with the tires fitting into the wheel holders and a clamp bar holding down the frame. I watched the bike as we went over potholes at 70 mph on the freeway (no, I wasn't driving). The bike didn't seem to move in the grips at all.
And the rack has numerous adjustments for leaving it on the hitch and getting it out of the way of loading. However, it does stick out a ways, so make sure you have clearance if you leave it on when parking in your garage or in a place with tight parking... you won't be able to see it in the mirrors when it is folded down.
Nice job of engineering!
awsome bike rack August 27, 2010 Wesley Cutright (Morgantown, WV USA) Love this bike rack. Just took our bikes to beach 10hr trip and bikes never moved swayed or anything. I can see where some people might be worried about someone being able to steal there bikes. But I just bought a cable with lock and put it through the bikes and secured it to the tow hitch works great. I like how solid the rack was with the bikes loaded on it. I liked the screw pin that connected the rack to the tow hitch. No regrets buying this unit.
good unit August 24, 2010 normanshouse (upstate NY) Good bike transport. Solid, holds well, easy to set up and use. Does not handle training wheels on kids bikes too well. All in all, a good solid unit.
